Taiwan EPA establish nanotechnology EHS database "TaiNED"

The Taiwan Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recently established the "Taiwan Nanotechnology EHS (environmental health and safety) Database” (TaiNED) jointly with Taiwan Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), Council of Labor Affairs (CLA) and Taiwan Ministry of Health and Welfare (MHW).

This platform serves as a database for nanotechnology environmental and occupational safety and health, with a view to fostering communication among different domestic stakeholders. The achievements of the Taiwan nanotechnology EHS projects are presented in the platform to promote domestic as well as international exchanges and collaborations.

The development of the database was underpinned by the first phase of the National Nanotechnology Project (2003-2008), which aimed to gather nanotechnology relevant information and established the “Environmental Nanotechnology Knowledge Platform”. From 2010, joint efforts of Taiwan EPA, IOSH, CLA and MHW expanded the platform into TaiNED.
