A draft background document proposing the content and focus of guidelines on nanomaterials and workers' health has been posted for consultation by the World Health Organization. Responses are required by 31 March.
The guidelines, entitled “Protecting workers from potential risks of manufactured nanomaterials”, aim to help companies improve the occupational health and safety of workers potentially exposed to nanomaterials in a broad range of manufacturing and social environments.
The guidelines will include elements of risk assessment and risk management as well as recommendations to improve occupational safety, especially in low and middle-income countries.
