The rector of Baku State University (BSU), Abel Maharramov, told an international conference “CIS: Innovative Partnership” about the state program.

He told the conference, held at the university, that BSU makes a great contribution to the development of nanotechnology in Azerbaijan.

“In 2004 during President Ilham Aliyev's official visit to Bucharest, BSU signed agreements on nanotechnology with Romanian universities and scientific andresearch centres. In 2005, a nano research centre opened at the university,” Maharramov said,
adding that nanotechnology is used in oil production by state oil company SOCAR.
The conference was supported by the CIS International Innovation Centre for Nanotechnology, the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research and Baku State University with assistance from the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Foundation. The event was organized by the Insiders Communication Group.

The conference aimed to exchange practical experience and create an opportunity for open dialogue with leading innovation companies and scientific centres in the CIS, to find prospective partners and reach initial cooperation agreements.
